Connecting with Industry Professionals and Machinery Manufacturers at WMS in Canada
For over four decades, the Woodworking Machinery & Supply (WMS) Conference has connected Canada’s woodworking professionals with the world’s most prominent machinery manufacturers and suppliers. Cresswood being a world class industrial grinder and shredder manufacturer, was present and enjoyed connecting and building relationships with people in the industry. My main takeaway from the show was that it was just like the International Woodworking Fair (IWF), just on a smaller scale, but with the same types of customers walking the floor and industries represented. IWF is held every 2 years and is a great show for us. Similarly, WMS is also well-suited for engaging with individuals seeking solutions for wood waste recycling shredders.
A Perspective on Connections, Relationships, and Industry Insights from a Wood Recycling Manufacturer
The Woodworking Machinery and Supply Conference & Expo took place from November 2-4 at the International Centre in Mississauga. It attracted participants from nine provinces and all facets of the industry, encompassing furniture manufacturers, cabinet makers, architectural woodwork specialists, and various other wood product manufacturers. The attendees included woodworking professionals from 32 different countries. Throughout the three-day event, the WMS Live stage hosted inspiring keynotes, presentations from industry leaders, and discussions among peers, drawing enthusiastic crowds.
This event marked the return of WMS for the first time since 2019, overcoming cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. WMS 2023 featured two exciting additions: a live machinery auction held on Friday, November 3, at 3 p.m., and Student Day on November 4. I had a great time meeting with many of the young students there and came away very encouraged by their interest in the skilled trades, particularly the woodworking industry.
At Cresswood, we are committed to staying at the top of the industry for innovation while continuing to build valuable relationships with the other paper and plastics recycling industry leaders at conferences like the Paper and Plastics Recycling Conference (PPRC).
