Cresswood was proud to be a sponsor for this year’s after-dark annual easter egg hunt in Kirkland, Illinois. After a disappointing cancellation in 2020 due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s socially distanced event was a rousing success! Egg hunters with flashlights had a blast searching the grounds at the Walnut Grove Vocational Farm for 100 hidden Easter eggs. Inside some of the Easter eggs were special prizes; with one top prize in each section of $50.00 cash!
Dekalb County Community Gardens is a regional non-profit dedicated to ending hunger, empowering individuals, and growing community. They are at the front lines, responding to widespread food insecurity due to the COVID-19 crisis in our community. They are passionate about empowering people to choose healthy and sustainable foods through education and active participation. At their Walnut Grove Vocational Farm, young adults with special needs complete individualized programs that provide them real-life experience working on a farm and in greenhouses, creating pathways to finding meaningful work and means of building self-sufficiency and self-worth. Cresswood also has built a substantial raised bed community garden at the factory in Cortland Illinois, and all our fresh produce is donated to the DCCG mobile food pantry when in season.
